Tripod mount

Preparing the DTA up for a big comp - one small niggle I`ve had is mounting a Manfrotto RC2 plate to the rifle so I can use a tripod. I compromised using a crappy plastic Harris picatinny adapter plate in the past, bolting a RC2 plate to it - it worked but the point of balance was still too far forward, therefore putting more stress on the ball joint.

 

I tried a Hog Saddle, too bulky / heavy and does not fit well on Gen 2 DTA`s (newer SRS-A1`s are fine as there are no side picatinny rails to stop correct mounting.

 

So pics below - butchered old nv mount with RC2 plate screwed to it - works a treat with the balance point about right (still could be a bit closer to the trigger guard, but definate improvement in stability. It mounts to the picatinny rail and extends over but does not touch the plastic side pannels. Easy to attach and detach.

I'd definatly like to try shooting from a Tripod!
