mildot
Im going to have my .243AI rebarreled for 75gr Vmax. What twist rate and powders are you guys using?
jcampbellsmith
1:10 twist is what I got when I bought second hand 243 AI. N160 is the powder I used. I would go for a faster twist and heavier bullet to keep me under the 1000 m/s speed limit if I was going down this road again. mildot
I did have a 8"T and was using 105gr and 87gr but now I want a long range varmint/fox gun and the 75gr vmax is the ideal solution for my needs. Im thinking IMR4895 as it has the velocity but lower pressures.

Jim78
In my standard Rem 700 ADL .243 with 22" barrel i managaed a group size of 0.472 inch / 12mm with 75gr V Max over 44.9 of Vit N160 with Fed 210 primer. For me it worked very well and no sign of exsessive pressure ,Max load according to Hornady manual is 45grn of N160 is 3200 fps. I have not had chance to chrono them yet but i'm hoping they are up around 3150 +/-.
