barndoor Posted January 4, 2015 Author Report Share Posted January 4, 2015 My budget for a bare rifle would be around the £1500 mark, for the moment its for informal 900/1000yd range work, I have tried the ssg at 900 but with no luck so id like to keep it for 600yds. The savage target rifles are around this price & come in all the aforementioned calibres, so taking bolthead dims into account I could always re-barrel at a later date in something else eg .308 to .260? DaveT Posted January 4, 2015 Report Share Posted January 4, 2015 Dauntsey guns did mention that the Tikkas come in 260 rem.........you would not go far wrong with that calibre (my 'go to') and I have heard good things about the rifle itself although never owned a Tikka personally.
