walkabout
Did not know what else to call the problem. While shooting one of my 6.5x55 Swedish Mausers at the range the other day people were noticing that just after I fired, about 25 yards down range there was a big puff of smoke. It was quite consistant, thoughts were unburned powder was igniting with the contact of air? The rifle is an M96/41B Lapua Brass 46 gr of Reloader 22 140 gr Sierra HPBT CCI 200 primers My thoughts were maybe the Standard CCI 200 primers are not hot enough to ignite all the powder? Any ideas as what it could be? Mark
marty
rl22 is a bit slow , I use rl19 in a in my Swede 1916 42gr with 142 smk and have no problems . even with the 29" barrel rl22 won't completely burn at the pressures permitted on '96 actions , an alternative is VV150 which replicates the original sniper load with the 139 Lapua bullet . Yes - unburned powder .
