Greenbear
Hi Guys I have had my first chance to use my new Howa 1500 in 22.250, running it in today I managed to get a sub 2 inch group today with factory ammo - so I am really pleased as I can tighten this up on my next vsit andf then move on to homeloads. Its kitted out with a Leupold 8.5x25x50 with a varmint reticule. I have an identical rifle on order only in .308 not due to June

ejg223
I've got the sporter 22.250 since a couple weeks. Didn't try any factory loads yet, but a few home loads. The 52gr a-maxes seemed a bit finicky. Depending on powder or brass length printed between 10mm and 4"!! these I think got wobbly and the hole in the paper seemed slightly oval.?? put aside 55 gr Nos BT printed around an inch with n140 or varget. Favourite at the moment and not finicky are the 52gr Nos BTHP custom match, with 34.5gr or 36.0gr Varget, both 10-15mm groups. They don't seem as explosive as a-maxes, but take em down well enough. edi

Greenbear
Hi Martin - I paid £600 for mine at D J Litts, the standard stock rifle and blued barrels can be bought for as little as £450 ejg - Thanks for the info I was heading down the 52g A Max road myself as they had been recommended by so many, I havent settled on a load yet as I have 100 factory rounds given to me when I bought the rifle. I have 55g Sierra game kings which work superbly well in my .223 Howa, but I may try the Nosler you mention. It will be a while but I will let you know how I get on. Cheers GB

6mmBR
Nice looking rifle there GB, normally those Howas are good shooters. Just come back from stalking with DS, had a super 6 point roe buck, the weather and other car drivers were not kind to us though Good luck next weekend.
