remmy243
going to re-barreling my .243 and thinking of going for a 1-8 twist that should suit my preferred 70grn nosler rounds but let me try some 105-115 heads for some long range stuff in the future right move or not ? The Gun Pimp
Interesting move. I've always reckoned that the 243 with a fast twist would make a very potent target cartridge. I've use the 243Ack but, it doesn't use all it's case capacity and the 'straight' 243 wouldn't be far behind and much simpler to run - with no case prep. Brass is cheap, barrel-life wouldn't be great but better than 243Ack, 6-284 or the 6mm Crusader. 105 or 115? Try both but I found the 105 to be marginally better at extreme ranges (1000yd) in the 243Ack.
gbal
Me too! If you haven't checked it out,see 243 section on accurate shooter esp wrt the heavies- 105& 115 Dtacs, which is very positive, but unfortunately, and unusually for that site,it does not give twist rates-though it includes the AI version Be good to hear others experiences with twists...1 in 8 sounds OK. Especially if it does not much degrade accuracy with light bullets (68g or so). Gbal
