5R-Twist
Hello all Its a 32 inch border barrel, I intend to use it for long range comps. I'm not sure but some comps wont except a muzzle brake as its a barrel tuner. But I use it at long range military sites as well. My question mainly is it worth the effort. Thanks for reading this. DaveT
You don't say what calibre it is.....if its less than a 308 then I can't see that you would really need the recoil reduction of a brake. If its a 338 then you really DO need one! I personally hate brakes when they are not a 'must' for either valid recoil reduction (major calibres) or fast re-acquisition of the target (CSR?) Tiff
It depends a bit on the caliber…..If only a mild recoiling rifle like a 6.5-284 I wouldn't bother, but at around .300 win mag or more class a muzzle break would help. Equally you could always use a sound moderator if shooting F-Class, provided you make the weight etc.

DaveT
I would not bother with a brake but a mod is nicer to shoot if you take care to work out the POI variance at various distances.
