Which Vortex 2.5-10 PST scope? Choice of two.

Primarily for service optic in CSR (scope cannot be used above 4.5x mag), I have a choice of:

 

Vortex PST 2.5-10x44 second focal plane

 

Or

 

Vortex PST 2.5-10x32 first focal plane

 

The latter is a newer design (reportedly better optics), has side wheel parallax (unnecessary for 4.5xmag?), is longer (!), about the same weight, smaller exit pupil, and £120 more expensive.

 

I don't think I need the first focal plane option (might allow lazy correction after sighters but reticle may be too small to be useful for that at 4.5xmag.) I'm also struggling with the idea that the newer optics will be that much better given that the scopes are in the same product line.

 

I did look at the lower mag-range scopes but CSR isn't the only shooting for which this gun will be used. Similarly, other brands not really relevant as scope must come from Riflecraft.
