Kalashnikov dead

Mikhail Kalashnikov, the designer of fabled AK-47 automatic rifle, died Monday, the office of the presidency in the Udmurtia region where he worked said. He was 94.

He is often vilified because due to USSR foreign policy, his design fell into the wrong hands and was often used in many actions around the world. I would suggest that he was a humble, honourable man who thought a great deal more about his homeland than many others do today. Had his design not been available for use, some other weapon would have been used, Rwanda being an example where the weapon of choice was nothing more than a parang.
