Here's a couple of interesting pics I got off my gunsmith. Excuse the picture quality as they're snaps on my phone from his PC screen.

 

The phrase "made to a price" came to mind when I saw them.

 

First one is of a disassembled stainless M700 which came straight out of the factory box:

Obviously nothing has been applied to the threads to stop corrosion. Imagine what this might end up like when it came time for a barrel change. In this case, only the new action was being used, the rest discarded.

 

Second pic is of a supposed high quality aftermarket recoil lug for an M700.

This thing was so out of flat, it was ridiculous, I think he said about 2.5 thou across the barrel periphery. You can see where it's been ground and there's still more to go. If this lug had been used as is, it would have made any other truing efforts pointless
