1000 yard bullet?

Hi all can anyone recommend a good bullet head to get me out to 1000 yards with my 24" barrel 308 howa 1-12

iv got some sierra 175gn HPBT match heads at the moment, will these get me there?

Yes.Consider the 155 Sierra Palma -old style probably a better start,or Lapua scenar.Likewise the 185/190 Sierra match and lapuas.

Many 168 g are not designed as long range,so skip them.Lapua should not disappoint.

I'm getting good results with 155 scenars out to 1000 yards. I'm probably getting a few more fps out of my 26 inch barrel.

The Berger 175 Tactical OTM works very well from a 24" barrel, even out to 1200yds.

 

The critical issue is what happens to the bullet at the transonic stage. It's difficult with a 24" .308 to keep the velocity high enough beyond 900yds, but the OTM bullets have been designed to stay stable as the velocity drops off and from my experience it really does work.
