ejg223
Working on Jamie’s theory of the barrel wanting to run a one speed. I had a lucky guess with my first load of 155 a-max and a mild 42gr H335 in my 1in10 308 with tight groups. After that I couldn’t get 165gr SST’s nor 165 Nos BT’s to group und an inch with neither H335 40.5 – 41.5gr or with Varget up to 44.5gr. Even N140 up to 44.5gr wasn’t great. Big improvement when pushing any 165gr a bit harder with 45gr. Varget or N140. Factory Lapua 167 scenars also works well in my rifle. Also tried some 150gr SP’s and 150 Nos Bt’s with 45.5gr - 46.5gr Varget or N140, groups where terrible. Thought I’d try Silents theory of slowing the little 150’s down a bit with 42.5gr H335 and tried them today , two touching and one a bit off but still just a tad over ½”. Good for that scope. Got a scope with a fat reticule at the moment. So it seems to work. My rifle seems to want the 165’s driven hard and the 150’s mild to reach similar speeds. Must try to set up our chrony now. Jamie you could have told me that it actually works , would have saved me some time. All loads Saami, that’s also my mag length. Way off the lands. edi
silentsoulsleave308holes
there will always be an opt weight boooolet for a twist, go + or - on booolet weight and they still wanna be pushed at the speed the opt bullet did rifling is like a inside out drill bit and the lands being the flutes good to hear things are going good buddy
shrek
i have found that my 308 likes the bullets doing down the pipe alot slower i am getting very promicing results from lap 155gr scenars and vit N150 but with a relativly low charge, 41.2gr off the top of my head, surprising that it aint always the faster the better! silentsoulsleave308holes
accuracy top node is often found 100fps down from max load my 762/308 has a 14 twist so will only shoot 155 and at 2600-2650 but she loves it I guess this is low compared to most 308/7.62 but the twist wont wanna play ball with them+ or -
ejg223
I'm delighted because the rifle likes the right heads (165gr) at max speed. So max umpf at good accuracy. edi
