clivej
OK so I loaded up some .38spl with the usual Viht 320 (using the .5cc dipper that came with the LEE die set). When to the range and the first round only went as far as 1" from the muzzel end IN the barrel, so about 22" in my Marlin 1894 cowboy gallery rifle. Got a cleaning rod and pushed it out. Second round was OK and hit the target @25m Next 3 rounds only went 1" down the barrel from the chamber, again pushed each out from the muzzel with a rod.I know I did put in the powder cases (well I'll know for sure when I pull them later) Heads were copper 158gr round nose whereas before with that load I was using 158gr TC lead heads. I was using cases that were primed 6 months ago and kept in an outside unheated shed along with the Viht 320 powder. I would have thought that the powder would keep OK in the shed even in this cold frezzing weather with the lid on tight. So is it damp powder???? and will I just throw it out now???
