Yes, on grounds of health and safety regarding noise, and reduction in recoil making the gun more comfortable to shoot.

If its just for range use you will get the same effect for a lot less money by just fittting a decent muzzle brake. You wil also save a further £26 as you wont need a variation.

It's for a 1st grant fac so the variation cost isn't an issue, I'm looking to get some fox shooting so was just going to apply for mods now. Thank for the replies.

personally I had no issue getting a mod granted for target on health and safety grounds.

 

I had a PES T12 on my Remmy 308 and it was so much better to shoot

Hi,

 

If you are granted a variation for a rifle for range use you will have no problem getting permission for a moderator. Most of our club members have them. Just be aware that if you have a lightweight hunting type mod. you could well have mirage problems, go for a heavier Milspec. type mod.
