BR 700
I've been load developing my 6br with Remington 7 1/2 with some good results, but I've noticed all the published loads on most websites use CCI 450 / BR4 or Fed 205m is there any real gains to be had by changing? The only reason I used 7 1/2 was a large stock for my 17rem and 204R. Favourite loads are 75 and 87 vmax's using Varget or N140.
baldie
Rem 7 1/2,s are good primers Brendon. I use them in AR 223 loads. The only other primer i use is CCI br4,s. Both are benchrest primers with thick cups that will withstand high pressures. cci 400,s and federals are softer , thinner cups that dont take the same pressures. It never hurts to have a selection, and once you have a nice load, to try the same load with different primers, as they can make a real difference sometimes. I tend to stick to these two for everything, as they work well, but also gives me a very good indicator of what a gun is doing , pressure wise, as i,m simply used to seeing that particular primer. BR 700
Thanks Dave, The reason I went to 7 1/2 was my 17 rem kept blowing holes in the feds, wondered if I needed a magnum primer for the increased case capacity? Looks like a few boxs of br4's then.
Alycidon
I use the BR case and have found that Fed 205s show pressure before BR4s, both work well with N150. A
