RINGMAN
Hi guys. I have Lakelander 389 rifle in .308win which is 15 years old. I do not know how many rounds passed through it. The inside (land)diameter near the action is 7.65- going to 7.64 at the muzzle(instead of 7.62). It is impossible to group nice with it. I am a good shooter. Is it the time to replace the barrel? What is the maximum inside diameter in the barrel that is acceptable for 300 meters target shooting? Thank you. GYT
andybrock
I'm not sure about the internal measurements of your barrel, but if it's still shooting accurately I would have thought that it doesn't need changing yet?
dannyt
If the rifle has had no service in 15 years, it might be an idea to take it to a rifle smith and recrown the barrel first before changeing your barrel . Throat wear can be over come by necking your home loads out a bit , but if its to far gone change the barrel. Should only cost £50.00 or so to recrown the old barrel. PS give the bore a realy good scrub out with carbon remover too
