does anyone know if the integral dovetails on a tikka m55 are the same as those on the later models (590 and 595's) just wondering if i could get a pitcany rail to fit it ?

The dovetails are the same width but the length and hole spacings (usually none on an M55) will be different. Rails are not made for this model. The SAKO mount for the TRG that clamps on will fit but you'll have to modify it over the ejection port otherwise it will tip cases back onto the top of the mag. Alternatively you could get a custom rail made for it from scratch as the straight dovetails are a lot less hassle than the tapered ones on the SAKO (standard sporters not the TRG which uses straight dovetails same as the TIKKA)

thanks G, just looking at options to get a dedicated NV rig set up and wanted to avoid going down the remmy 700 route for no other reason than i fancy somthing a bit different

Talk to Third Eye Tactical, I think he makes rails for 595's. I spoke to him a few months ago when I was wondering about a rail for my 595 but ended up sticking with optilocs.
