  1. Im happy to reload 😀 Vortex can I ask , do you shoot in any competitions ? I'm happiest shooting prone out to ...say 300 - 900 yards . Not sure if snap shooting or kneeling , sitting is for me 🤔 Are there comps for iron sights and just prone position ? I have downloaded the CSR book , seems it's almost all position shooting ?
  2. I have tried to join the CSR forum . When I click on say ....forum index , nothing happens . Infact it seems I am registered but cannot communicate on the forum ?
  3. Considering CSR , possibly historical . The .303 versus the 30.06 ? Prefer the handling of these rifles over the Lee Enfield , prefer the look , the only limitation (possibly) being the mag size . Purely on reliability and accuracy is there a winner ? I reload , would this point more to one calibre than the other ? I am googling and reading , would appreciate the opinions of owners and those with hands on experience 😀
  4. Agree I need to have a few dry runs . Will be interesting firing standing unsupported . Thank you 😀
  5. Thanks Roy W . I have fitted weights to the forend of my 6.5cm to help tame any muzzle flip . The scope is large mag and therefore heavy as I shoot prone and bench . Assume it's better to keep the weight down for standing shots ( it's about 15lb ish at present ).
  6. Thinking of attending a course at Bisley . Checked and 6.5cm is ok for Practical Optics . Anyone else using a 6.5cm ? Have no choice have a 308 Savage 12 Ftr and a Bergara HMR in an MDT stock .
  7. Used CFE223 from 45.5 to 47.5 . Sierra 155g Hpbt . CCIBR2 LRP . The best group used 46.0g of powder . Brass was swaged and if necessary lightly reamed . Primers seated fine a little deep , but within Sammi limits . Tried to clone 7.62 GGG , with similar CBTO and similar COL . That's why I tried CFE spherical powder. Excellent results with 46.0g resulting in less than half moa group at 100yds . Should have been tighter , my fault . That's 4 shots .
  8. Just joined , it all helps 🙂
  9. Just measured the pockets of 20 cases using a vernier guage. Very consistent at .2065 , I have already swaged the brass. Minimum is stated as .2085 . Measuring this way is a little crude but it looks good 😀 , maybe a little tight. Better than to loose 🙂 Will still get a pin guage , when I have got my head around it 100%
  10. You can buy a go - no go guage but everyone is out of stock . Oh , and yes I am using swaged GGG crimped brass . Makes sense to me at .211 for no go , too loose . Not certain myself what purpose the , " go " , is for ? As I have to specify both ends of the guage , think I will order .210 and .211 . Thanks Popsbengo 🙂
  11. I am looking at several companies that sell pin guages . I can order a guage and specify my go - no go criteria . At the risk of appearing thick 😄 , looking at the SAMMI diagram , what dimensions would be best ? Should I use the .2085 as go and .2100 as no go ? Or .2085 and .2101 ? Can't get my head around it 🥴
  12. Seems no stock in the UK If any of you good people own one could you please mic the go and no go diameters . I believe the primer diameter is .210 .
  13. Just watched Rosie in action. Always fascinating to put a face to people's names .
  14. The 155 , 175 and 185 you referred to in your previous post , were Sierra or Berger ? Do you use a 30" or 32" barrel ? Twist rate 1:12 ?
  15. Really appreciate your help Richview , some sound advice and very useful figures 😀
  16. Very interesting , thank you. I understand the basics of reloading but there is sooo much more I have to learn. Recommend any good books on the subject ?
  17. I'm not certain if the 7.62 GGG cases are slightly heavier than Lapua . This would mean thicker brass and less capacity . Have you reduced the powder load to compensate or just used standard loading data as normal ? I wonder if the crimp removal has any effect on accuracy ?
  18. Thanks Triffid , interesting observation . I have now sourced 500 Sierra 155g (2155) Hpbt . I intend to ladder test with various powders and seating measurements . I hope the GGG cases are good . Please post your observations and I will do likewise 😀
