  1. Buy from Torchy or Fogstar

The Ecolux/Ampsplus site has been showing no stock on every item for a few weeks now

5 amp rated batteries are fine for an NV scope.

The 10 amp/ 20 amp/30 amp etc batteries tend to be more expensive and have lower capacities

This is probably the best "bang for your buck" 18650 on the Fogstar site https://www.fogstar.co.uk/collections/18650-batteries/products/samsung-35e-18650-battery

If you don't already have a charger, then I recommend Nitecore i4 or D4

  2. If you can find someone in the UK who who has some, it's not illegal to buy it.

It's only illegal to import it

But, as has been said, you'd be far better off working up a load with an equivalent powder that is legal and is (relatively) easily available

  3. I've been running CCI clean blue subsonic for a while now and not had a cracker

The CCI website says 1070 fps and chronoing about 30 rounds gave a maximum MV of 1089, minimum of 1045 with an average of 1074

I know they are no hollow points and should not be used on live quarry, but in my experience hollow points just go straight through rabbits anyway - so what's the difference

A head shot with either bullet is an instant kill and a chest shot with either bullet will not kill instantly, but the rabbit will dead a few seconds later.

That's part of the plan!! - they want you to think it's too much bother

That gives them less work and fewer guns to worry about

If you want a gun and have good reason, then stick with it.

Remember, the Firearms Act states quite clearly that if the applicant meets the conditions laid down in the Act, the Chief Officer of Police SHALL grant a certificate - not should or maybe or "if he feels like it" he SHALL grant a certificate because the law says he has no choice in the matter

  5. Normal for UPS - anything they think might be gun related they hold and send the receiver a form to complete saying what the items are.

It's annoying, but no big deal.#If you want to get the stuff you ordered, complete the form and wait for delivery - simples

  7. Because the version that OW are selling does not have an illuminated reticle

Basically there was a screwup between Riton in the USA and the factory in Japan where the scopes were being made

Either Riton forgot to specify they wanted an illuminated reticle or the Japanese manufacturer forgot to fit an illuminated reticle

Either way, Riton did not want the scopes so the Japanese manufacturer sold them off cheap to OW

I have one and it's an OK dayscope which I use only for load development purposes because I like the ret and the magnification

It's very poor at dusk - making it much more of a target scope than a hunting scope

  8. When Russ Douglas an i did our initial review of the DS35

We found that the ocular lens had an adjustment range of about 42mm - far longer than any other scope either of us has ever seen

I wear reading glasses which are +2.5 or +3 dioptres and need to have the ocular screwed out to around 40mm to get the reticle and icons in focus (when not wearing glasses)

Russ wears +1.5 dioptre glasses and he had the ocular less extended than me to get the reticle and icons in focus, but he was able to get everything in focus

If you wear +1.75 dioptre glasses, I'm surprised you can't get the ocular into a position where the reticle and icons are in focus

    Cheers
