  1. I have just had to renew my fac. I have had an open ticket for years.

I live in Hampshire right on the border with Dorset. Dorset Police are my licensing division however they now send everything firearms related down to Devon and Cornwall Police to deal with.

I submitted the renewal along with the official police shooting permission letter from the landowner where I have permission to shoot over his 170 acres of woodland.

And that is where the fun started🙄

D&C said the land that I had provided had never been cleared and so I had not proved valid reason to possess, I argued that my valid reason to possess was the fact that I had the land and I didn’t require it cleared as I had an open ticket. It batted back and forth like this for a while.

D&C wouldn’t renew without the land being inspected so they batted it to Dorset to inspect. Dorset were reluctant to inspect because it was a waste of their time because I had an open ticket.

It faffed about like this for quite a while until someone more senior at D&C decided that perhaps they should change their renewal process after 20+ years as it might be a good idea to let common sense prevail and grant an open ticket holder their license at renewal without the need to clear land💪

  2. I have just looked and I can’t find my old load data for the 22br and can’t remember the actual load, what I do remember though was that around 3800 was max speed but that wasn’t the accuracy node. I used to run it at the accuracy node and it was bench rest accurate. The 22BR will perform just as well as a 22-250 but does that using much less powder.

  3. My personal experience of using a Landmarc range was with Dorset Rifles when they used to use one just North of Winchester.

The experience, month in and month out, always seemed to me to be, “Give us the hugely expensive range fee....and just hurry up and f@ck off”

Personally I begrudged going there and was immensely happy when the club secretary finally saw the light and decided that Landmarc were just taking the pi&& with the cost and the sheer amount of bullsh&t paperwork required just to even turn up on site.

Do you mind me asking what rifle you had this done to and how much it cost, please?

Is it an easy fix, or did you have to takeit to Baldie?

I've got a Tikka 595 in 6BR and it's an absolute joy to own and use, but the mag feed issue does bug me, I have to say.

    Cheers. Paul

It was done on a custom action in an AI stock. All I did was send the AI mags to Baldie, I can’t remember the cost but it wasn’t much, ask him directly

I think the conversion that he does is only for AI mags so you would have to put bottom metal on your Tikka that takes AI mags. It is certainly a worthwhile conversion, I’ve done it on a Tikka .204 that I own.

If you can get a 6br to feed from a magazine, that would be worth considering.

Baldie does a mag conversion for a 6BR.

I have one and it feeds beautifully and reliably, well worth the money.

    Bugger, now you tell me🙄

I haven’t used it for nearly a year and I didn’t realise that it had a 3 year warranty, if I had I would have sold it a year ago still warrantied for more money. Still, I’ve had my use out of it and got up to absolutely loads of mischief with it😊 and it was an absolute game changer when it came to night time fox shooting.

I hope the new owner has as much fun with it as I have had.

  7. Hi Weejohn

That is a good question, I’ve just taken a look at it and I must admit I cannot see how you would take the doubler off.

Personally I have always just used it as it is, I used to shoot on various farms where foxes would be 50 yds away to out of range away. Using a thermal spotter and the Drone I have never found that I have had to rush a shot as the foxes never seem spooked due to no lights being on so if you need to turn the focus ring from close up to long way off there is loads of time.

    Hope this helps

    Regards

    Justin

  8. Hi

Surplus to requirements due to me no longer going out at night slotting stuff.

Pulsar Quantum XQ50 hand held thermal spotting scope.

This is in immaculate condition and comes in its original box with all original instructions.

Due to the cost of this item I would prefer a face to face sale, I am based in Ringwood, Hampshire but I am at Bisley at least twice a month.

If you want the complete fox shooting package I am also selling my Drone Prone night vision setup on here.

    £995

  9. Hi

Surplus to requirements due to me no longer going out at night killing things.

Drone Pro 5-10 with Nightmaster 800IR with the Xsearcher head.

Both the Drone and the Nightmaster are in immaculate condition and come in their original boxes with all instructions included.

As you are probably aware this combination is a phenomenal piece of kit and you will be able to see foxes in complete darkness at distances further than you will be able to shoot them. My personal record shot with this combination on a 22BR at night was rangefinded at 375yds.

Due to the cost of this item I would prefer face to face. I am based in Ringwood, Hampshire but I am at Bisley at least twice a month.

    £1095.
