  1. RPA Quadlock action with 32 inch 1/9 twist Bartlein barrel, chambered in straight .284Win which has has exactly 400 rounds down it, it also has a 20MOA rail fitted. Throated for 180gn Berger Hybrids which using the now un-obtainable 4831SC it shot groups of sub 1/2 MOA.

Sits in a blue System Gemini bench rest stock (which I don't think can be bought now) with Shooting Shed front and rear bag riders .

I have 180 cases which are necked up Lapua 6.5x284, these have been neck turned and are good to go complete with Redding Type S bushing neck die set with correct bushing (.312).

I had bought the action from another shooter and Mik Mak at Dolphin built the rifle for me in 2012 when I had aspirations of F-Open, sadly circumstances changed so it's been a proper cabinet queen only selling as I don't use it and shooting interests have changed.

There is also a Shooting Shed cleaning rod guide and Tan coloured AiM60 Drag bag to complete the package.

I would prefer face to face sale, but could RFD at buyers cost.

£1900 seems a fair price but happy to haggle for a genuine buyer. Could also do a part swap for a good quality .22 Semi-Auto AR.

  2. I keep thinking about resurrecting my license. I passed my city and guilds in June 1986 at the age of 13 and had to wait until September for my birthday to have my license issued. At the time I was one of the youngest in the country to pass it and I took my Dads old call sign G1GBW as he'd done the morse and been issued G0BXU. He still operates I haven't touched radio since 89 when I discovered other hobbies.

Ah, that’s a pity! If you’ve not already, might be worth an email with a picture of the crack to their customer service team. I contacted them a while back about something, heard nothing then one day found a spare part in the mail! I was very impressed, although I’d pretty much given up hope by that point!

I emailed RCBS about sourcing spare springs for my trimpro, never had a reply buy two weeks later a packet turned up in the post from the USA with the bits in, no charges.

    Definitely worth emailing...

  4. I used to shoot prone smallbore to a reasonable level and went batch testing at Eley. Back then you could only test Tenex. It was done in a 50m tunnel with the action clamped in a dummy stock in a vice to minimise any errors.

The difference from batch to batch was staggering. I never did find a really good batch and generally use RWS R50 which consistently suited my Anschutz 2013.

The point being what works one day might not the next depending on when the ammo was made.

Imo any attempt to use powder with eye being the sole means of knowing what it is a fools errand no offense. Use only factory powder containers. The factory ammo powder is bulk bought specs are unknown to the reloader . Years ago a friend had several lbs of powder that had been decanted for lack of a better word with handwritten slips to show what it was,i refused to use it and after deconstructing some of the handloads done by his family member seeing at least 4 types and charge weights I recommended he dispose of the decanted stuff and save the possible injury and death.

I totally understand, it was more idle curiosity as I said I didn't recognise the powder.

  6. Hi all

Can anyone shed light on what powder this is likely to be. Pulled from factory Remington Core lokt 180gn 30-06.. the powder weight was 51.9gn.

I don't recognise the shape of kernels..

    Cheers
