I'd do the Imperial model if you are looking to nick the US market. We shoot in all weather and wind, out to 1865 yards in MOA and MIL. Importantly, all of our spotting scopes are in MIL, which would suit this unit nicely.

Got rid of the one I had. The best aid/tool I have used is the Sagen Saw for taking out the pelvic bone. Quick, effective and easily cleaned.~Andrew

Most mass produced semi-auto .22s have fairly generous "Sporting chambers" to cater for the whole gamut of ammo available...as the man above would say "in the world!", and to ensure reliability

Chambering to tighter tolerances can cause issues but for the most part can be rectified

I would add to your list, Quality of Ignition source.

Some semi's, if left to their own devices, become sluggish in the ignition department. It does effect accuracy. This can be a gummed up striker/firing mechanism or just a crudded up breech that prevents consistent bolt closure and headspace. I have a 10/22 with a custom 1-18" twist barrel that will shoot 50M, 10 shot groups on par most of my good bolt guns, as long as i keep the firing mechanism and breech face and bolt scrupulously clean and properly lubricated.

That said, I have a CZ 452 that I can completely ignore, maintenance wise, and it will shoot as well as the Ruger Custom with ammo it favors.~Andrew

I've tested a few of these tools -the most recent a few years back made by Paco Kelly in the US. Accuracy was always dependent on the care of use, but there were some configurations that weren't good for any small rabbit past 15 yards: Just no reliable hits. Damage from the modified rounds was devastating but then, I utilized high speed as well as Subs and Standard Velocity rounds. I still have that Kelly tool but have not used it in a few years.

Winchester still makes limited runs of it occasionally but you can make it from 375 Winchester, 38-55, 32 Winchester Special and 30-30. I have used the latter by sizing the cases almost straight with a taper-ended rod about 35 caliber. Then they were necked down (FL) in the 32-40 die and fire formed. Some brass needed annealing before the process, some didn't, all could probably use it.~Andrew

Of both if possible, I'm trying to picture a small hornet so to speak. I have heard of the .218 before,but never seen a picture.

Of the cartidge or the gun? The gun is a rare one over here. It's a Benny Rifle. The Benny was made by a man named E.B. Sunderhaus of Aakron, Ohio in the US. He made.22 Match Rifles in the 40's and 50's and this 218 Bee is the only known centerfire he ever made. The rifle is stamped on the underside of the reciever with the makers name and the date October 19, 1941. It has a Unertyl Hawk 3X scope. A serious old school varmint rifle. You guys need to get your ingenuity up and running. Make it from 25-20 WCF or 32-20 WCF. I found both on MidwayUK after a 30 second search. Size 25-20 to fit and trim. 32-20 needs annealing first.

I shoot 218 Bee. Great little round that is unfortunately on the list of "underloaded" cartridges with respect to factory spec and loading data. Most was designed for lever action rifles. In a good bolt gun it sings: especially with Lil Gun. ~Andrew

Trail boss is a pretty failsafe powder to use in a subsonic load, as its virtually impossible to overload it.Be VERY carefull with ANY powder, DOWNLOADING it to subsonic levels. When you get down to tiny loads of blue dot etc [one of the favourite subsonic powders ] you run the very real risk of the powder lying flat in the case, and the primer flashing across the whole surface area of the load in one go, and causing detonation, instead of progressive explosive [which is the norm ] Detonation blows guns up. More guns have been blown up by far, by detonation, than overpowered loads.

Trail boss will give a nice case fill, even when downloaded.

 

Andrew on here, is this site,s expert on cast bullets, he,s been at it all his life, maybe he will chime in.

I don't know how expert I am but I can offer this (apologetically) late observation about slow 30 cal cast loads. With the Marine's 30 Whisper I had no problem getting sterling groups with a 210 grain Lyman #311284 at 1060 fps, but in standard 1-10" twist guns I start getting instability at less than 1400 fps with this bullet. Luckily, the BC of this chunk of lead at that speed is in the neighborhood of .360 so it still flies reasonably far and straight.~Andrew
