The smell of food (we use and recommend Spike’s dry food) will lure them in. Don’t forget to leave out water, too.

Just buy a cheap 60- to 80 litre plastic storage bin from your local Wilko/Pound Shop. Cut a CD case-sized hole in one end and place it in your garden covering the piggy food. (Set a couple of bricks just inside the entrance to foil cats, leaving enough room for piggies to get around them.)

Because:

a) I've got Vivaldi's Four Seasons on CD, and I don't need to listen to it as Hold music until someone deigns to pick up, and;

b) Email is convenient for the recipient: he can answer at his leisure, rather than perhaps interrupting a task, and;

c) They provide an email address and should use it.

I'm off to Bisley tomorrow (13.5.23), and my supply of GGG 155gr. Match ammo for .308 is critically low.

I was planning to purchase more from the NRA Armoury on camp, but I now note that their price/availability list doesn't mention this ammo.

Can anyone who's been recently confirm that it's out of stock?

2. Are the police involved at all?

3. Here's what the law says (the relevant parts of s.30 Firearms Act 1968):

30 Revocation of firearm certificates.

(1) A firearm certificate may be revoked by the chief officer of police for the area in which the holder resides on any of the grounds mentioned in subsections (2) to (5) below.

(2) The certificate may be revoked if the chief officer of police has reason to believe—

(a that the holder is of intemperate habits or unsound mind or is otherwise unfitted to be entrusted with a firearm; or

(b) that the holder can no longer be permitted to have the firearm or ammunition to which the certificate relates in his possession without danger to the public safety or to the peace.

My recommendation? Find out in the first instance whether your neighbour has contacted the police about the matter. If yes, then - assuming that you're a member - contact BASC.

Update:

Yesterday, due to the sterling efforts of Simon Burford at Elite Optical, I received not only a free replacement eyecup for my HIKMicro Lynx thermal monocular, but also a complimentary screw-in neck lanyard to fit the device. This was an unsolicited gift courtesy of Mr. Burford.

I regard this as exemplary customer service, particularly considering the fact that the firm from whom I actually bought the monocular, and HIKMicro themselves, couldn't seem to care less about my problem.

I recommend Elite Optical to all my fellow forum members. (I have no connection with them other than as a satisfied customer.)

I’ve recently picked up a nice SSG with a barrel slightly shortened to accept a muzzle brake.

I reload using only Vihtavuori N133 / N140 / N160 powders, Lapua brass and CCI benchrest primers.

Vihtavuori’s maximum book load for my 167 Scenars is 44 grains of N140. I’ve just done a ten-round test in 0.2 grain increments, topping out at 44.2 grains ( naughty! ). This gave me a Magnetospeed MV of 2,654 fps. Strelok Pro indicates that this combo will go transonic at only 850 yards.

Even worse, there’s a nice node at the slightly lower charge of 43.8 / 2,593 fps. ( Trans at 800 yards.)

My question: Should l:

a) Ignore Vihtavuori’s manual & go higher than their recommended max load of N140, or;

b) Select a different ( heavier? ) bullet, e.g. a 175 grain?

c) lgnore the issue? (l only shoot at 1,000 a couple of times per year.)

d) Some other solution entirely, to get me a bit closer to 1,000?

Here's a typical target from my setup, which is a Sako Finnfire Varmint, barrel shortened to 18",  fitted with a Hawke Vantage 30 WA SF IR 4-16 X 50 scope (.22 subsonic reticle) and using SK Standard Plus (which it loves).
