A quick question on storage of AR rifles Does the lower of an AR also need to be stored in a safe if detached from the upper? If the upper has the bolt, receiver and barrel and the lower only has the mag housing trigger and buffer spring then, if separated, could the upper and bolt be stored in the safe and the lower left out? bradders Posted December 25, 2018 Report Share Posted December 25, 2018 Technically you could do that, but why? one of the reasons for locking things up in the cabinet/safe is to stop them being stolen My view is that while not a ”pressure bearing component” they are a major component of the firearm and I treat them as such, all upper and lower receivers go in my register and are locked up in the safe Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
