Akeld
That looks a very comfortable firing point, is gravel now against H&S recommendations or is it not an MOD range?
GunsmithDolphinholme
Ah this has made me chuckle SureFire FA762K Sound Suppressor Type A NSN 1005-99-151-9623 Should you be that interested.
brown dog
Actually, that's not the suppressor in the pics Think you'd be surprised if you learnt the background & knowledge level of one or to of the posters in this thread one at least is nearer 'trialled the weapon and wrote the AESP' than 'can read the AESP'
Shuggy
Looking at the picture again, I see that you're right. The Surefires have a step at the back for the latch, whereas that one is smooth. Do tell...by PM if you prefer.
julien
Some UK troops seem use the S&B PMII 3-12. The L129A1 would be a temporaly solution pending the finalization of the program for a new sniper weapon? Very interesting article http://ukarmedforcescommentary.blogspot.com/2014/08/light-infantry-battalions-and-regular.html
Shuggy
There were two Urgent Operational Requirements, the first for a section Sharpshooter weapon was won in competition by LMT. The second requirement was for a Sniper Support Weapon, for use by the No 2 observers alongside the snipers, who are equipped with the L115A3. It was rapidly decided that the quickest way to fill this new UOR was simply to take the existing L129A1, slap on the S&B sights from the old L96 and add an in-service Surefire suppressor. Bob's your uncle, an instant SSW, which is what is in the picture.
