devilishdave
I was watching a doe by the pheasant feeders tonight and decided to add her to the cull. I took the shot from about 60m and she legged it  Got the dog in and he found it about 40m away in cover. When I approached the animal for a moment I thought I had made an error as it clearly had growth on top of its head that I had not seen through the scope or binos and I could have bet my mothers life that I had clearly seen a tush! I quickly checked and a tush she had. On graloching she seamed to have all of the normal internals for a female. I will get some pictures up tomorrow in the day light. I have seen a few posts on the internet about this sort of thing in the past. How common is this? Just out of interest she was a big animal and made 45lbs head and feet still on. Jingzy
You will probably find that it was an old animal. Were the teeth well worn?
devilishdave
Pictures Added. Jingzy you are bang on the money she is one of the oldest animals I have ever shot and I would estimate her to be IRO 7 years old. Dave
Jingzy
This happens with an imbalance in hormones. They start to produce the same chemicals as the males and hence start to grow antlers.
