Buck this morning

Recommended Posts

I was out this morning at 4am and came across this fella wandering up a hedgerow. I had glassed him from about 500 yards away and planned my stalk to intercept him at the end of the hedgerow.

I stalked down the far side of an adjoining hedge and quickly got to within 200 yards of him , by this time he had stopped and was content feeding. :D

I crossed through the hedge and made my way slowly towards him hidden by the growing wheat until I was around 120 yards away. The edge of the field was ploughed which allowed me to utilise my bipod :clapper:

He went straight down ....................

I was very surprised to see he was still in full winter pelage ........ :D

Nicely done, sounds like an enjoyable stalk.

He looks a nice animal, as you say strange to see him in full winter pelage at this time of year.

Is it cos it's colder up north??????

Sorry couldn't resist.

A nice looking buck, how old would you put him??

I would have said he was relatively young as no wear on his teeth and had small coronets on his antlers but as said cant understand why he was in winter pelage as he had a good body weight and was in good condition ...........
