Guest Scotland Rifles Posted March 11, 2009 Report Share Posted March 11, 2009 ok lads. looking at running h4895 with a 70gr nosler for charlie boy but i am not sure just what weight to start at. so anyone else out there running this powder with a 70gr head. i was running 44gr of h4320 but its a tad slow and i just wanted to up it a bit. thank you. bob. PeteL Posted March 11, 2009 Report Share Posted March 11, 2009 Bob, What calibre?. I assume 243W?. My Hodgdon manual Edition 26 gives 37gn starting to 40gn max for 3414 fps with a 70 gn Bullet. You are of course correct. the rifle is a 20" barreled steyr in .243 win flavour, i would like to think i would get about 3200 fps or a tad more, but with the 20" barrel it may be hard to acheive, its not a major concern because if i ever meet anything that can out run it, we are all in trouble bob.
