For sale is my early TD5 Defender. It has been fairly heavily modified.

I brought it around 2007 from Bell Auto Services in York. They specialise in Defender tuning and this was their show car, touted around all the car shows to exhibit their wares. In terms of engine modifications it has a Turbo Technics variable vane turbo charger and a switchable ECU allowing you to go from a standard 135hp to a claimed 200hp at the flick of a switch.

In terms of modified running gear it has an overdrive fitted that works in 4th and 5th gears. Makes cruising at 70 mph much more comfortable. I have fitted Koni shocks and Police RR springs which has softened up the ride and again makes it far more comfortable on road and off road. I have also fitted additional sound insulation throughout. Last year I put on a new set of steel wheels and new Cooper SST Pro tyres which have done less than 500 miles. Steering damper also fitted. Rock sliders on the side are security locks which when fitted with their locks make entry just about impossible. It's also fitted with an electrical cut off switch.

The winch on the front has a dynema rope which I have never replaced. It works well on a remote control and very useful when pulling others out of the mud, pulling tree trunks about, lifting high seats etc. Never had to use it to get the car out of trouble as it has never got stuck!

The roof is fitted with a fabric full length electric sun roof from a mini. Two of us can stand through it while foxing, one on the rifle and one on the lamp. It's a really good set up. I will sell the car with the shooting platform on it - made using a Thule roof rack, aluminium box section and Rhino board. Allows a 360 degree stable shooting platform. Makes a good high seat/fox box if you're on your own as well.

In the back I have a locking rifle box. It's not screwed down but it's a good safety precaution and good for storage of everything. A BushWear carcass tray slips in underneath the gun box but thats not included in the sale as I'm using it in the other vehicle.

It's got about 80k miles on the clock. The oil and filters were changed last month along with new rear callipers which were binding. There are a few bits of aluminium rot around the back door. It has been kept inside a barn for the past 12 years so dry - which is generally best for land rovers. It's a 20 year old car, so not perfect, but it has been very reliable for me since I bought it and it has been well looked after.

I have also got in the barn the 4 seats I took out of the back when I converted it 10 years ago which the buyer is welcome to have.

Hopefully it will go to someone who likes their foxing, as it's the perfect vehicle. Asking £8,000.

She’s a beauty mate, my personal defender is an early td5 90 they are fantastic trucks, mines on nearly 200k and still purring. Good luck with the sale, it’s a good price with all the mods, a few dings and scratches only add character to a landy!
