varminter Posted October 31, 2008 Report Share Posted October 31, 2008 Had A phone call from a farmer friend who has just had a rekindled love for shooting!!! . He phoned to see if i wanted to go out for a couple of hours , so i did!!! He took the 22 and had the 6PPC just in case we seen ginger!!! This area of the valley has some ponds which the owners have been losing ducks to foxes , so i have been asked when on bunnie patrol if i see any foxes please can i cull them!!! We was out for a couple of hours and my farmer friend was having a great time thinning the bunnies when i noticed the tell tale eyes in the beam!!! I got the PPC set up on the roof and started calling!!! , the fox came down across the valley to the bottom of the pond!!! I told my mate light him up and then i called , the fox just sat down and looked at us and i sent the 65 V-max on its way!!! I heard the " plop " and that was that , so hopefully no more ducks going missing!!! When we went to retrieve the fox he was a very big dog fox and ranged 173yds , nice and plump and a very good coat too!!! All the best..................... RAY..................................... Good to see you have been shooting of a different kind again..LOL How about getting a larger caliber for some heavy hitting ?? perhaps a nice 7.62 parker Hale ??
