twist rate

Recommended Posts

hi tikkaman

my brno ckk 601 223rem seems to measure out to a 1 in 13 twist which seems to be a oddball as most twists seem to fall at 1 in 12 or 1 in 14 you can do a rough check using a cleaning rob and brass brush by engaging the rifling and marking the rod level with a point on the action and mark the rod near the handle the push in the rod till it has rotated once and mark against the same point on the action withdraw the rod and measure the distance between the two marks its only a rough guide but repeating a couple of times giving a constant distance is a fair guide . mine is 1 in 13 as regular as clock work great for light loads up to 55 grains as long as they are driven fast 40 grain loads are one hole groups as they are not over rotating .

hope this helps.
