507 yard bunny

6mmBR

Recommended Posts

Well I had the priviledge to watch Varmartin make a superb hit on a rabbit at 597 yards with his 6BR.

Sadly Ray had to take Martin home on his way to picking up his daughter on Saturday. This left just myself and Chris behind to have a few more shots before we had to pop off for tea.

Well we scanned the field that Martin had made his shot and we saw a bunny out on the right of the field.

I ranged it with my Leica's and it came out at 507 yards. The necessary adjustments were made and I squeezed the triggger and was rewarded with a direct hit. Well the bunny was like a jack in the box and must of sprung 2-3 feet in the air at the hit.

The kit used for the shot was my trusty RPA Interceptor in 6mmBR loaded with 87 Vmax.

We had had a good few hours and it was of for a superb tea of venison cooked by Chris's partner Adrienne.

Thanks for a great weekend.

Dave

It was good to see you down in Cornwall again Dave, and a shame Ray and I missed the 507 yarder......would liked to have seen its acrobatics

It is still an official `over 500 yards shot` as Chris witnessed it....so well done ;)

Cheers Chris, yes that venison was superb.

The tablets are glucosamine and chondroitin they contain

100mg chondroitin and 400mg glucosamine per tablet.

We've really found they've helped our dogs joints.

See you soon.

Dave, I am still considering a 6br RPA for the future but can you fill me in on the following.

What is the weight of the RPA set up you have and what bits are on it at that weight?

Cheers.

Hi Eldon, the weight of my RPA all in is around 14lbs or as accurate as my bathroom scales are.

The set up includes.

RPA Interceptor

Nightforce 5.5-22x56 NXS NP-2DD

Leupold QRW rings

T8 moderator

Harris BR bipod.

She is quite weighty and would be uncomfortable to carry around.

But I shoot off a vehicle so weight is not a problem, however it is a benefit as it makes the rifle very stable.

I'm sure when you get your RPA you will love it as much as I do. By damn I have shot some stuff with mine.

Cheers

Dave
