deadcenter
Has the 308 Lapua Scenar 185gr ever been popular / successful with long range shooters? Never hear it mentioned much.
Laurie
No, it's a high drag / low BC bullet. It's an excellent short to mid range performer, but the 155 Scenar is a much better L-R choice. The old step-boattail D46 FMJ is a better long-range bullet and was once popular in this role. Neither though is as good as the better modern designs such as the Berger 185gn Juggernaut. deadcenter
That explains that then. The Lapua VHD. Speaking of rebated boat tails - Among some items I bought as a job lot were some Hornady rebated boat tails. 190 gr. Old looking box, just says 100 match bullets, 30 cal / 190gr boat tail H.P. Batch number but no part number. Grand Island, Nebraska. Oldy but goody, or best left in the past?
