.22-250 brass

Been given some brass that has 'frontier' on the base, is this brass OK for reloading? It's cleaned OK and can't see any obvious cracks..regards Lee

Google throws up a few answers from other forums. Seems it was sold by hornady but not sure who makes it

Yes, 'Frontier' used to be what Hornady called its brass, so it's likely a fair few years old. Hornady makes most of its own brass now and headstamps it with its own name, but this was probably made by either Norma or one of the big US ammo companies.

 

The original 'Frontier' brand ammunition goes back a long way to when Hornady was a small outfit. They bought and reconditioned once-fired .30-06 and 308 brass and reloaded it under this name. They later expanded into other cartridges using new made brass supplied by others under contract then finally invested in case drawing machinery to do the job in-house.

 

If the cases are in good nick, they'll be as reloadable as any other make.

Thanks....just resized some and 3 got small indentations on the shoulder, I know its from too much lube, but are they still OK to shoot?

Just have a check of the case length, though. I reload a lot of '250' and find it stretches more than any other calibre I work with.

Yeah some were 1.915 after sizing trimmed to 1.905
