Triebel reamers

Recommended Posts

Has anyone used Triebel reamers, they seem to be on the dear side compared to reamers from the USA and the gauges are very expensive for some reason, may be because of the QA, but their lead time of 6 weeks seems better than the 3 months I have been waiting for PTG reamers, still waiting by the way.

Most of the smiths use Triebel over here unless a non-CIP spec. such as the freebore, or a new wildcat calibre is in the works. Generally, Triebel's service has a very good reputation for service and product quality. Can't rate the tolerances and life time in comparison between Triebel's and PTG's reamers though.

Also ordered a set of reamers from PTG a few years ago and delivery occurred without a hitch after approx. 8 to 12 weeks. Fortunately, the reamers were based on an existing PTG drawing number so no engineering time was required up front.

Service gripes: No voluntary notification of shipping and the fact that the roughing and finishing reamers weren't shipped as a set, i.e. shipping charges twice, untraceable outside the U.S. (via USPS), and two visits to customs to explain what reamers are used for and that they are not gun parts.
