jay666d
Today I managed to get one last shoot in before the years end... It was a little bleak, but the rain eased in the afternoon and allowed me to achieve something I've wanted to do for a while! The 10"x10" gongs were set up as usual, but along side them we set up some Melons & Eggs. (Eggs were set up for use with the .17HMR at 100 & 200 Yards) Another couple of Melons were set up 38 yards behind the gongs, just because that was as far back as we could put them. We moved back 500 yards, and dialled in for the shots! The wind was light and not even at quarter value, so I had no problems hitting the gongs! Got the Melons too! Dialled in again for the Melons sitting at 538 yards... Spot on! Entry Wound. Exit Wound. I had some rounds left over and it seemed a shame to take them home, so I decided to dial in once more and go for the left over eggs at 500 yards... First shot, over its head. Second shot, same again... Dialled down the scope. Third shot, HIT! Fourth Shot, HIT! Fifth shot, HIT! It was at this point I wished I had a better video camera... The footage I got from this isn't worth editing, you can see nothing! Never the less, I'm chuffed to bits and the data is now in my DOPE book! All in all, a great end to the shooting year for me!
