mildot
How much variances have you found by switching primers? I was testing yesterday and I found on the one of my test that the difference of primers made almost 2-3" bigger group at 100yds! I only had 4 rounds with a different primer so some of this could have been me but it was vastly larger! I was surprised at this.
gbal
Yes,that does seem a lot. Especially between brands of the same application,(eg CCI BR4 and Rem71/2),but even between primers designed for rather different applications (CCI BR4 and CCI 400 eg;or standard/mag ). My experience has been it's very small,in the grand scheme of things-way, way behind bullet differences, which might sometimes give such wide differences, and powder (all assuming these components are 'fit for purpose'-even if not that rifle's favourite. My primer choice is much more influenced by eg hardness to avoid piercing in some cartridges only, than to avoid bigger groups; nor are such large group differences often referenced,as I'm sure you know.....we may see others..... g
MrCetrizine
I switched from CCI BR4 to CCI 400 with no change whatsoever. However when I switched from CCI 500 to Federal 210 there was an inch difference in poi at 100m
