Laurie
Yes, I use it in my .308W long-range F/TR load with the 155.5gn Berger Target BT. It's a bit faster burning than H4895 and VarGet, so is best suited to 155s in .308 Win. My load, usual work-up and components warnings apply, is Lapua 'Palma' small primer case, CCI-BR4 match primer, 155.5 in a chamber throated to give 2.95" COAL and 46.4gn 8208 XBR for 3,050 fps from a 32-inch Broughton. If standard LR primer brass is used, lower charges would apply, down by 0.5-1gn. Likewise, using it in a shorter freebore chamber such as one cut with the Palma 95 reamer. Despite being branded as an 'IMR' (normally made in Canada) line, 8208 XBR is actually another of Hodgdon's Australian manufactured (ADI/Thales) 'Extreme' products alongside all other Hodgdon brand extruded products. There are some supplies in the country right now as Edgar Brothers received a shipment late last year, and while H4895, H4350, H4831, and VarGet all sold out really quickly, few people had heard of 'XBR' - hence its continuing if limited availabity. However, it's unlikely any Hodgdon numbers including this one will arrive this year while 'genuine' (Canadian) IMR powders definitely will, so anybody who's taken a liking to this number and knows of a supply should buy it quick!
