talking of Anschutz...

I had a 1770 that I paid shedloads for about 10 years ago. It was the full bells and whistles version and was a lovely looking gun. Unfortunately it was incredibly unreliable and inaccurate. It was sent back for new firing pins, new springs and an complete change in the end. Grouped like a shotgun regardless of what ammo was used. With Norma, Remington or Winchester ammunition it would fire about 40%, the rest would fail to ignite. I ended up swapping for a Sako and never looked back. I know Adenbourne in Oxford stopped stocking Anschutz because of similar issues.

Maybe the new uglier guns will work.

Interesting. I'm a sceptic because the actions are alloy, rather than steel. I know the bolt locks into the barrel, but I just can't bring myself to trust alloy to last .... so nix to Blaser and Merkel Helix too, which is handy as they cost far too much anyway.
