gazzar15
I am fitting my 25-06 into a new laminated stock, as it came out of a Mcmillan A5 which had no mag cutout I bought a Remington long action bottom metal to fill in the bottom of the laminated stock. It doesn't fit!!! I notice that it seems to be longer than my screw holes by about a little more than half an inch. Does that mean that a short action bottom metal will fit? There is another smaller diameter action screw that fits through the 40x trigger guard. Any help appreciated.
gazzar15
I think I have just answered my own question. Although the 25-06 is a long action cartridge it would appear that because my rifle is a single shot only it has been re-barrelled in this calibre. I just checked the action against a short action BDL stock and but for the barrel not fitting into the sporter channel the screw holes and inlet for the recoil lug are a perfect match. Head scratching over,
