What chronograph you fellas using?

Recommended Posts

Finally got out with the chrony again. Will be sticking to my pet load for the .22/250 of 35.2grn varget and 55grn v-max as the fps increased the groups stayed much the same so no point changing it. For the .223 I made up some rounds with once fired lapua brass neck sized and the usual brass prep, rem small rifle primer, 25.5grn h4895, topped off with a 50grn v-max to a col of 2.250. Once again I was impressed with the consistency, 10 shot string as follows 3199, 3205, 3207, 3218, 3203, 3211, 3202, 3212, 3204, 3209 and the group at 120 yards was a ragged hole with one shot about half an inch left which I felt I pulled alittle. Have yet to try the 53grn v-max as they haven't arrived yet but might not bother with them! I ment to take pictures but had packed up before I remembered! Seems like my foxing loads were spot on to begin with. Cheers Simon

I would recommend that you try the 53gr V-max when you get them as they have a very good BC. I use them in my .223 and am getting very good results indeed,

At the RFD today to see if my bullets had came in (53grn v-max) and they hadn't. So knowing I've only got 7 50grn v-Max's made up I bought a box of .223 superformance to last me out a few week. Anyhow after supper I thought I would put a few over the chrony as on the box it read they would be doing 3465fps! the 5 shot group at 120yards was 1 1/4 inch and bang on the same poi as my handloads. The fps were as follows 3308, 3333, 3298, 3341, 3327 so not as consistent as my handloads or grouping aswell either, the col of the superformance is 2.238". Hope when the bullets arrive I can do better hand loading them or it will be back to the 50grn v-max. Has anyone got a good load for the 53grn v-max using h4895? The rifle used is a tikka t3 lite with the standard 1:12 twist barrel.
