Arell
Just thought I’d share a quick project I sorted for myself. I’ve always been intrigued by said ‘Light Combes’ to hide the glare of an objective lens but have been put off by the poor quality of cut up mesh grilles. I use SLS rapid prototypes a lot in my line of work and the process is perfect for this application (extremely thin wall sections (0.2mm) are achievable, no draft angle is required and the part is designed specifically to fit the mating component). The resulting product is effectively the same strength as a molded engineering grade polymer so no issues with rigidity. The part came out really well (slightly too loose as I gave a big safety clearance, hence the insulation tape to take up the mating surfaces diameter!). It seems to work really well and the objective lens is totally shadowed through the deep section of sunshade. Front... Back... Pushed into place where the shoulder meets the front surface of the sunshade... Final result, pinned in place by the flip-up cover... Rich
