craigyboy
Just curious, how hot do you let your barrel get when shooting groups? I usually shoot 5 with about 15-20 seconds in between shots and let it cool for a few minutes but I have never felt my barrel being anymore than just warm to the touch but not hot, some of the guys in my clubs barrel are piping hot and they just seem to continue shooting, just wondering how far it can be pushed until you do damage, maybe I should advise them to calm down a bit, at the other extreme I have heard some people say a 5 shot group might take 5 minutes, I wouldnt like to wait that long . 325WSM
There are occasions when shooting hares that the barrel gets so hot it is untouchable and that is a Varmint Ruger No 1 but I always take at least 2 rifles if expecting a flurry. Otherwise warm is fine esp in cold weather !
