Deer Huntin was a bit slow....So the .17HMR went to work

Like the title says....

The 9 day deer season was a total bust.

After the second day of seeing more squirrels then deer,

I dragged the Cz 452 American in .17 HMR along to take a few of

them out.

Dropped 3 the first time it came out of the case.

Range was anywhere from 10 to 35 yards...All 3 were head shots.

Angel hadnt made her way up there yet...and once she did.

I wasnt able to get the camera much, for shots so the ones I

were able to take were after....

Didnt see too many Squirrels after that day either.

 

 

Sat night Nov 24

We had a lil visitor...

Seemed he devloped a headache from eating all the peanuts we put out

for the Squirrels at my folks. I had to administer a theraputic high velocity 17gr pill

to fix that....The results were terminal.

Hi Dave,

Ya could call them that...but it aint really.

They are nasty enough to wanna use a pole to pick them up with,

But over here we call polecats ....Skunks.

That is an Opposum.

Click on the close up view and you'll notice the

long rat like tail...

 

I got a lil story about that tail....and on this very critter too.

They arent good for much once ya kill them so we bag them up

and find a field that looks good to drop them in....As dad and I were

goin for a drive to find a good field...this thing was still twitchin abit.

They have a simple nerve system like a coon or woodchuck and they

will twitch for a few minutes even after bein headshot like this one was.

Of course this all happened at night...on dark country roads,me and dad

just talkin abit...and the thing starts curlin its tail around my boot.

 

Let me tell ya the car never came to a complete stop before the door was

open and the bag and critter went flyin....For all I know ....It may well be layin

in someones front yard.... Dad just couldnt get the car stopped fast enough.
