Mike6.5
Good day all Just had a new barrel on the AIAW chambered in 260 Rem. Conducted OCW (optimal charge weight) for 95gr V-Max from Hornady using Varget as Propellant. Lapua - Brass CCI BR - Primer Varget - Powder 95gr V-Max - Bullet Here are the loads tested - 4 x 42.0gr 4 x 42.4gr 4 x 42.8gr 4 x 43.2gr 4 x 43.6gr (HOT LOAD) Results from the range - As you can see from the results 42.4 and 42.8 are looking good, For OCW load I will use 42.6gr Next step was to confirm the load recipe at 100yards. Loaded one round about 1% below, and another round about 1% above the OCW charge. I fired a three shot group with these loads looking for MOA or better. 1 x 42.3gr (0.1 gr under the tested 42.4gr) 1 x 42.6gr (OCW) 1 x 42.9gr (0.1gr Over the tested 42.8gr) Results from the range - Sub MOA 42.6gr will be a very "pressure tolerant" and "resilient" load for hunting. Next step - Fine tuning Cheers Mike
gunnery
Mike i use a Barnard 07 26"Barrel Truflight ultra match i use 39.5grns varget and 100grn nosler b/t very accurate not the fastest mv 3020 but very accurate in .260 i would think light load very good in my rifle but use caution in yours all rifles are diffrent. with this load hardly any recoil you can see target drop. Mike6.5
Cheers Gunnery for the heads up on 100gr NBT’s over Varget. I was advised to use Nosler 100gr BT’s by Callum Ferguson also but I’m finding it very hard to get hold of them. I placed an order with local RFD but I’m still waiting so I thought id get the ball rolling and try the 95gr V-max.
