I'm thinking about obtaining a new rifle. I currently have 17hmr 243ai and 308 in the cabinet. I'm looking for a good foxing calibre shooting around 40 grain. I reload so wildcats not a problem. Suggestions please ?

Hi Steve, I'm looking for a fox rifle and the .204 Ruger keeps coming up in suggestions. Nice and fast, real flat apparantly and shoots 32s and 40gns well. Dont know if youve considered this?

PS A pal absolutely loves his .17 Rem for fox (25gn I believe)

Ive just had my 223 rebarrelled into a 204 ruger and so far im impressed. Its a seriously impressed, only been out to 255 yards but put crosshairs on pull trigger.

Only problem is finding a rifle, i dont like floor plates so i had 223 sako rebarrelled by baldie on here.

Im shooting 1/4 inch groups at 100 yards with 32grn v max running at 3945 fps. Off to sort some problem charlies and rabbits out this weekend on some flat fields running to marsh, should get out to 500 hopfully

+1 for the 204Ruger. I have had one for 5 years now, it is the mutts nutts. 39gn Blitzking does the trick any time and at any reasonable range...

best wishes,

Another vote for the 20 cal 39gr SBK, an outstanding bullet. I would build it on the 223 case as a Tac20 and use Dakota brass which is made by Lapua. Plenty on doner rifles around. It will be good for 300 yards on charlie.
