TonyH
Prompted by Garry's thread on necking down 6.5x47 to 6mm, I've been checking my case necks. New unfired Lapua/Dakota 20Tac brass, prep'd and run through a Redding neck die, give neck wall thickness readings (measured at several points around the circumference) of around 11.5 to 12.5 thou; twice-fired cases, fully prep'd, measure more consistently, both around the circumference and from case to case, at 13 to 13.5 thou. This seems very acceptable (and predictable) to me, and I'm several loadings away from having to turn these necks. Any comments? BTW I'm using a gadget i bought at Reloading Solutions recently, a digital readout thickness gauge by Insize Tools, clearly made in China or Taiwan, very easy to use and seems consistent.
