Millwall Paul
I read about this on another forum and thought I'd copy it over here. http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2011/mar/23/european-meadow-tick-pets-diseases Doxycycline works to get rid of lymes but I wouldn't recommend it having had a course for rickettsia - the south african version of lymes, it really knocks you for six. sako75
Paul I would certainly agree with you on the horrors of having to have a treatment for tick infections, when I was in Malawi I got bitten a few times, and it was quite normal to have 20 plus ticks crawling up you’re trousers after being in the forest during the rainy season. My dogs would get covered in them and the only reliable course of treatment was to dip them every couple of weeks, using a diluted cattle dip preparation. These European meadow ticks will spread like mad here, as we have deer, foxes and badgers in abundance, so no doubt they will help spread them widely.
