IR Laser sight?

I am toying with the idea of putting an IR laser sight on my rifle for use with NV.

This would mean the monocular would be head mounted, with the laser used as an aiming device.

 

Firstly, has anyone else tried this, and if so, how successfully?

 

Secondly, where on earth do I find one? It seems as though they all have export restrictions etc?

 

Another option if this one is a non starter, would be to weapon mount the monocular behind some sort of single point sight, like an Aimpoint or Eotech.

 

Any opinions or experience with either of these ideas would be much appreciated.
