HAving watched a lot of that, the stand out Achilles heel seems to be having to input a shed load of data with a small number of buttons and the screen is tiny considering how much data one is looking to view. Is the video representative or can you bang majority of the data in on a tablet, PC or phone in advance? The video made it look far from user friendly to me? For so much money I would want something pretty close to perfection.

The AB iPhone app gets quite a slagging in the APP Store, but on the face of it tethering a weather station to what is effectively a powerful mobile computer seems the obvious way to go?

So I'd agree they are quite simple in design.. but then is suppose they are built for more than the likes of us sat on a range.

You can build and sync all of your rifle data from your phone using the Kestrel Link App which didn't take me long at all.

  2. I've just made the jump into a Kestrel 5700 Elite from using Strelok and Hornady 4DoF.

Got fed up of being let down by apps crashing and not being able to update etc.

My decision was made up when watching a 'Masterclass' video on the 5700 Elite on YouTube and I was quite impressed with some of the stuff you can do on it... YOU CAN EVEN PLAY SNAKE!

I'm looking forward to getting everything set up for my rifles and tested at the next match.

  3. For Sale: HIK Micro Cheetah LRF and Picatinny Rail
    Price: £500 (RRP ~£800)
    PayPal Goods and Services
    Description:

This was a prize won in a competition. It is as new and I have only had it out the box last night to assess its capabilities and unfortunately I don't think it will be suitable for my intended use and I'm going to look into more expensive Thermals. I'd say from the 10 minutes of playing this is ideal for Air Rifle and Rimfire or small cal. Centre fire use in the dedicated NV Sight setup inside 100m with the built in IR Illuminator, possibly further with an aftermarket IR illuminator.

Comes with picatinny rail and built in Laser Range Finder.

Box has a small bit of damage on it but internal packaging unaffected.

Never shot PRS but always thought the challenge was targets at unknown distances - difficult to run on a formal range with fixed firing-points and bullet-catchers - so how was this achieved at Bisley?

Steel plates laid on hangers on the range floor. All shot from the 1000yd firing point

  5. 1st NRA PRS match was held this weekend with the CoF being created by the GBPRA and MD'd by Jack from GBPRA.

Loads of new PRS shooters there! Was good to see! Shame the fog played havoc with the beginning and end of the match and we had to cut two stages.

Should be good next year with mention of more training events and matches as well as the ability to book some lanes for individual or club practice 👌
